Purpose of this Course

 

The purpose of this course is to provide you with an overview and understanding of emergency preparedness and coordination as well as to provide you with the necessary competency and skills to plan and evaluate an emergency response plan in your workplace.  

 

 

Target Population

All persons whose work related activities involve the management and control of occupational health, safety, environment and quality (SHEQ) issues, and who need to deal with emergency situations in the workplace. 

 

 

Pre-requisites

  • Matric, or
  • Completed trade, or
  • 23 yrs + 5 years’ work related experience. 

 

 

Learning outcomes and objectives

The aim of this course is to provide you with the necessary information and activities to enable you to:

Plan and coordinate emergencies by:

• Having an overview of emergencies.
• Obtaining management support.
• Establishing a management team.
• Identifying the scope and severity of emergency incidents.
• Identifying resource requirements.
• Identifying and determining roles and responsibilities for internal and external responders.
• Defining restoring and recovery measures.
• Conducting a vulnerability analysis.
• Compiling Emergency Response Plans
• Implementing the plans.
• Evaluating the plans.
• Concluding the planning and coordination of emergencies.
