PURPOSE OF THE COURSE

The purpose of this course is to provide you with the necessary competency and ability to prepare, conduct, record, and follow-up actions of a planned task observation. 

 

 

Target Population

All learners whose work-related activities involve the management and control of occupational health, safety, environment, and quality (SHEQ) issues, and who need to use observation practices as part of this management and control.

 

Pre-requisites

  • Matric.

  • Completed Trade.

  • 23 years and 5 years work related experience.

 

1. Have an overview of the background to task observation by:

1.1 Comprehending the values and advantages of critical/task analysis and procedures.

1.2 Discussing task analysis/observation as part of risk assessment.

1.3 Interpreting critical terms and definitions.

1.4 Identify and analyse critical tasks.

1.5 Comprehending task procedures and practices.

 

2. Interpret planned task observations by:

2.1 Comprehending task analysis/observation as a risk management process in itself.

2.2 Comprehending the types of task observations.

 

3. Conduct a planned task observation by:

3.1 Preparing successful planned observations.

3.2 Observing a task.

3.3 Discussing the task observed.

3.4 Recording and following-up on a task observed.
