Purpose of this Course

 

The purpose of this module on electrical hand tools is to provide a guideline for the proper selection, use (safe behaviour) and maintenance of electrical hand tools, in line with leading risk management principles. 

 

Target Population

 

All persons whose work related activities involve working with portable electric power tools and are required to access their work and work areas, and who need to use risk assessment techniques as part of risk controls. 

Learning outcomes and objectives

This course aims to provide you with the necessary information and activities to enable you to:

• Be familiar with relevant definitions.

• Be familiar with different kinds of portable electrical power tools.

• Understand the duties of the employer as relevant to the use of portable electrical power tools. 

• Understanding the duties of the employee as relevant to the use of portable electrical power tools.

• Understand critical safe behaviours pertaining to the system of work relevant to the use of portable electrical power tools.
